About Kerala Murals

The ancient art of mural painting of Kerala stands unique among the various Indian traditional forms of paintings. Dating back to between the 9th and 12th centuries CE, Kerala mural paintings enjoyed royal patronage. Portraying characters and scenes from Hindu mythologies, these paintings also reflect Indian spirituality and communicate an atmosphere of divinity to the viewer.

Meet The Artist

Nibin Raj

Nibin Raj is a Kerala Mural artist from Kozhikode, Kerala. His parents are Baburaj and Nalini, from Kozhikode.

After completing his school education, he attained a Bachelor's degree in History. He went on to secure First Class in the 5-year Diploma course in Mural Painting from The Institute of Mural Painting, which is administered by the Guruvayur Devaswom.
